Nathan O’Connor is a Managing Director at Equity Methods, a consultancy in Scottsdale, Arizona that helps hundreds of public and private companies model, value and account for equity compensation and other complex securities. As the first point of contact for prospective clients, Nathan brings over a decade of quantitative consulting experience to bear in collaborating with the Valuation, Reporting, and HR Advisory practices within Equity Methods to ensure that prospective clients’ needs are met. As a liaison between the company and the broader compensation community, he shares best practices at industry events throughout the country and through publishing technical articles. Prior to his current role, Nathan served as the national valuation practice leader at Equity Methods, where he oversaw all client delivery, operations, and R&D in support of more than 400 public and private clients, in addition to directly serving the compensation consultants and senior executives of several Fortune 50 companies. A technician at heart, Nathan is a Certified SAS Base Programmer who has taught financial management in the University of Arizona’s MBA program and internal derivatives workshops at Equity Methods. He previously served on the boards of the Las Vegas and Phoenix chapters of NASPP. He currently serves on the board of the Arizona chapter of Financial Executives International and the advisory board of the Certified Equity Professionals Institute at Santa Clara University. He's appeared in the NASPP Advisor, his work has been published in WorkSpan magazine, and he's been quoted by Bloomberg, AzBusiness, Employee Benefit News, and C-Suite magazine.
Fred Whittlesey is the founder and Principal Consultant of Compensation Venture Group, SPC, a consulting firm specializing in compensation strategy, director and executive compensation, equity-based compensation, and incentive design with a primary focus on entrepreneurial growth companies. CVG is a Washington Social Purpose Corporation and Certified Green Business. Fred also provides expert witness services for compensation-related litigation. Fred is the co-founder and a past Board member of Global Equity Organization (GEO) and past Chair of the Advisory Board for the Certified Equity Professional (CEP) Institute. His corporate experience includes roles as the Director of Global Compensation for Amazon.com and Broadcom Corporation, Chief Compensation Officer for PayScale.com, and Fellow at Salary.com. He is a Lecturer at UC Irvine’s Paul Merage School of Business for the Corporate Governance MBA course, and also has been a lecturer at The Anderson School at UCLA and Seattle University. Fred received his MBA with distinction from The Anderson School at UCLA and graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude from San Diego State University with a BA in industrial/ organizational psychology. He holds the Certified Equity Professional (CEP), Certified Executive Compensation Professional (CECP) and Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designations.
