Top 5 Trends in Performance Awards
The aftermath of major recessions always brings shifts in legislation, shareholder concerns, and the workforce which impact equity compensation.  The Great Recession brought increased scrutiny on pay for performance and hastened the shift away from stock options to full value awards.  What changes will the post-Pandemic Recession trigger?  Some changes are high profile and impact a wide range of companies, like figuring out how to set realistic performance goals and the introduction of ESG measures into LTI programs. Others depend on a company’s goals for its equity programs, such as front-loaded CEO grants triggered on massive growth or extension of performance awards beyond executives.
