Session Descriptions

Session 1: The Value Proposition:  Which “Value” is This Again?
There are too many types of "value” in the equity compensation world.  From target value and accounting fair value to perceived value, realizable value, and realized value, it can be a nightmare to understand what each represent and when each is important. Each type of value intertwines with the others, which means that even simple design decisions can have multiple downstream consequences. In this session, hear from the “value experts” to learn how to maximize perceived value while limiting the accounting value, understand the implications plan design has on realized value, and make sure you’re getting the most bang for your buck from your equity plans.
Liz Stoudt, ASA, CEP, Associate Partner, Aon
Steve Lensing, VP Compensation, Radian
Erin Bass-Goldberg, Managing Director, Fred Cook
Session 2: Seven Deadly Sins in Stock Plan Administration
To an outsider, equity compensation plans can appear deceptively benign.  But, lurking behind the scenes is the real truth: equity compensation is highly complex, not always well understood, is in the intersection of multiple disciplines, and is fragile under the weight of regulatory oversight. This session brings together equity aficionados to peel back the layers and reveal insights that busy stock plan professionals may not have about their plans. These “Seven Deadly Sins” will reveal new opportunities in seven distinct areas, including tightening up your tax processing, better understanding your employee behaviors, matching your ESPP design to your objectives, compelling reasons to consider using Prior Day Close for your fair market value definition, and more.
Amanda Benincasa, MBA, Associate Director, Aon Equity Services
Edward M Pelatti, CEP, Equity Compensation Managing Director, Fidelity Stock Plan Services
Session 3: Break Through To Your Board
An expanded version of the hit TED talk from the 25th annual NASPP conference!  With the array of stakeholders involved in equity compensation, we’d all like to improve our communication, particularly with leadership and Board members.  It’s not only the message, but you you deliver it that matters.  In this session you’ll learn powerful hypnosis and influence-based speech patterns to convey your desires more easily and lower barriers to agreement.  The session will also include issuer cases on Board engagement best practices, tools and processes.
Bryan Cassidy, MS, CHt, Senior Product Engineer, Plan Management Corp.
Elena Thomas, MBA, CEP, COO, Plan Management Corp.
Michelle Tomasetti, CEP, Senior Stock Plan Manager, CompIntelligence
Session 4: Participant Behavior Mythbusters
What really drives participants’ behavior? Knowledge, stock price, mood? Join this session as we review results from a survey of the stock plan participant population at E*TRADE Securities. The survey covers feedback around several key topics, including participants' perceived value of their stock plan benefits, level of comprehension of plan benefits, and some areas of opportunity for better education.
Brennan Latham, Senior Account Executive, E*Trade Financial Corporate Services, Inc.
Neil Birrell, Solutions Architect, E*TRADE Financial Corporate Services, Inc.
