A&M has recently completed its annual assessment of executive compensation trends in both the E&P and OFS sectors. As part of this year’s report, A&M also evaluated announced compensation reductions in these sectors resulting from COVID-19 and the Saudi-Russia Oil Price War. Brian Cumberland and Vance Yudell from the Compensation and Benefits Practice at Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) will be going over the findings of this year’s report, as well as provide their insight on what they expect in the E&P and OFS sectors going forward from an executive compensation perspective in this uncertain environment.

Brian Cumberland Bio
  • Brian Cumberland is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal. Mr. Cumberland leads the firm's Restructuring Compensation Practice.  With more than 30 years of experience, Mr. Cumberland provides executive compensation advice to clients, including development of compensation strategies, the design of annual and long-term compensation arrangements, assessing the levels of competitive compensation, and evaluation of tax and accounting ramification of compensation arrangements. In advising on executive compensation matters Mr. Cumberland regularly deals with issues related to stock options, restricted stock, non-qualified retirement plans, deferred compensation, key employee incentive programs (KEIP) and key employee retention programs (KERP), global compensation strategies, golden parachute rules and the one-million deduction limitation.
 
 
Vance Yudell Bio
  • Vance Yudell is a Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Executive Compensation and Benefits Practice.  Vance provides advice to corporate clients for executive compensation matters, including issues related to stock options, restricted stock, non-qualified retirement plans and deferred compensation.  Mr. Yudell partners with clients to navigate issues to improve key human resource practices, provides customized compensation and benefits solutions from executives to broad-based employees, pay structure design, organizational analyses, performance management, and job analysis. He has led project teams through the short- and long-term incentive design process and provided background and expertise when structuring market comparator groups. He also has significant experience analyzing and developing key employee incentive programs (KEIPs) and key employee retention programs (KERPs) for companies in bankruptcy. Vance is a Certified Executive Compensation Professional (CECP) through WorldatWork.
