Our popular “Meet the Speaker” series, featuring interviews with speakers at the 27th Annual NASPP Conference, is a great way to get to know our many distinguished speakers and find out more about their sessions in advance of the Conference.
For today’s “Meet the Speaker” interview, we feature an interview with James Kuzmich of Bank of America, who will lead the session “Stock Market Basics to Optimize Your Equity Plans.” Here is what James had to say:
NASPP: What is the elevator pitch for your session?
James: My co-presenter, Sean O'Brien, and I are both very excited and honored to present at this year's NASPP Conference. It is truly a fantastic city and it's great to have the Conference back in New Orleans.
Our workshop session will focus on the topic of “Stock Market Basics To Optimize Your Equity Plans.” Frankly this topic is always timely. It is important to have an appreciation of how the stock market functions in order to understand the impact to your stock plan, plan participants, your company and investors.
Our interactive learning session will focus on basic stock market operation, the role of the broker, specialists, and floor trader. Providing an understanding on order types, order flow, share settlement and best practices, insights on trade processing, an efficient market place and why block trading is vital to market optimization. Come listen to our esteemed panel to assist you with both educating, and informing you and your employees on how to maximize their equity compensation.
NASPP: What is one best practice companies should implement?
James: Without question, one best practice that should be implemented centers around employee education. It is very important that plan participants understand the nuances of the stock market and how trading activity can impact more than just their stock price.
NASPP: What is the silver lining to understanding how the stock market works?
James: By gaining an understanding of the operation of the stock market, this will afford you the ability to set forth an action plan based on your plans needs. The proper planning will in turn contemplate an appreciation of an ever changing market landscape, employee education, and preparing for an efficient and effective execution with your broker-dealer.
NASPP: What is your favorite restaurant in New Orleans?
James: New Orleans features a wide array of fantastic culinary treats. I would recommend two restaurants to visit while in town. Enjoy dinner at Commander's Palace and order turtle soup to start followed by any of the seafood entrees. Be sure to also visit Café Du Monde for coffee and a beignet to start your day!
